Story

I thought i had my life pretty much planned out as much as you can do! As a little girl all i wanted out of life was to follow a successful career somewhere in the care sector and to have my own family- raising children was my ultimate goal in life. Unfortunately fate has chosen a different path for me. Little did i know- i was born with FSHD type muscular dystrophy, hypermobility, endometriosis and asthma. I was told in my early 20’s that i will probably be in a wheelchair by my 50’s, and at the time i thought ‘no way- i wont allow that to happen’. Since then and after various operations to manage some of the many symptoms i have and unfortunately i am declining very quickly. Motherhood isn‘t an option 😔. Walking is becoming more and more difficult and painful. I am no longer able to drive and cannot walk far at all. I would say i‘m admitting defeat by looking for an electric wheelchair but at the same time it would provide me with so much more freedom and independence (not having to rely on someone to push me around in a manual chair when they have the time to). Due to not being able to work and funding two France trips to visit my dying Father and then his funeral- i am struggling to cover bills; let alone health equipment. I know there are so many unfortunate people out there and i cherish the quality of life i do have- although it has changed me as a person somewhat. I’m not seeking any sympathy- just hoping those who can help could possible donate even a pound to help towards the cost of an electric wheelchair.
