Story
In July, I am travelling to Nicaragua with World Challenge for 17 days, during the expedition we will be redecorating and repairing a school called Camilo Zapata. We are planning to:
- paint the classrooms inside and out
- paint the benches
- replace door locks
- build chairs and tables in the shade from old car tyres to be used at snack time, by the children, so they don't have to sit in classrooms or on the floor
- install lights in the classrooms as darkness is an issue in rainy season
While we are there we will also be participating in community clean ups to help the village. Nicaragua is one of the poorest nations in the Western Hemisphere, almost half (43%) live in poverty and 68 percent of them are trying to survive off just over $1 per day.
In total the trip costs £3,000. so to help fundraise this, on the 2nd of June I am going to run a 5K colour run along with some of my team to raise as much money as I can, to go towards the trip.
