Story
Lea, Liz and Sarah are going to do a tandem sky dive on Saturday 22nd July at Langar Airfield. This is to raise money for the Plot 2 Plate project ran by Disability Direct. The money raised will be used to support the continuation of the project.
Plot to Plate has two fully accessible allotments and another specifically for carers and people who want to improve their mental health.
The plots are based at Little Chester Allotments in Chaddesden and Normanton Park Allotments.
The Allotments have been created to allow disabled and older adults to garden in a safe, secure, supported, environment whilst learning how to ‘grow your own’, make the perfect composts and organic fertilisers, harvest rain water, and look after the many fruit trees and bushes we have.
Each Plot has raised beds, paved walkways, large polytunnels, toilet facilities, and the all-important Tea shed! As well as gardening the project offers many creative and eco-friendly activities which include building bug hotels and bird houses.
All of our produce is donated to members and the local community and used in regular cookery classes.
It’s free to attend, we do not charge for this project, which is why we are relying on donations to keep this lovely project active.
