Hi everyone.

My sister gave Megan, her 9 year old daughter up in December 2014. She kept her 11 year old and then had another child who is now 1.

Megan lived with my mum for a while until she had an accident and could no longer take care of her. The Social Services called me and said if I didn’t take Megan in she would go into care. I simply could not let this happen.

Megan is now in high school, aged 11 and in year 7. She is doing extremely well considering what she has been through. She is in counselling and has improved dramatically.

For many months I have been pushing for some sort of Parental Responsibility for Megan as i currently have no rights, not to medical treatment, holidays or school issues. So i have all the responsibility but no actual rights. My sister is non-responsive to any of the family and Social Services and is not at all interested in seeing her child.

I am finally at the stage of taking my sister to court to gain a special guardianship order but this is going to cost around £2000. Megan even wants to use her Christmas money to take her birth mother to court! She just wants stability and that is what i want to give her.

I have no financial support for Megan other than child benefit which doesn't go far at all so i am finding this very difficult. Social services will not support on costs. So I'm pledging to you, to please help us find the costs to complete this court process so Megan can finally feel like she has a stable home and I can have some rights!
