I've raised £1000 to fund extra Maths and Music resources for our school. I'm running every day for 200 days, averaging 5 miles per day - around a £ per mile.

for Grove Road Community Primary School, Harrogate.
I’m running every day for 200 days, averaging 5 miles a day. I’m raising money (hopefully a pound-per-mile) for extra Maths and Music resources in our school. I began on 19th December 2018 and am due to complete on 7th July 2019.
My school works hard to cope with funding cuts. They do a great job providing our core resources, but there’s little left for those extra things which make a difference. We’re not well-off and unlike many schools in the Harrogate area we can’t rely on a stream of extra income from our families.
Grove Road’s a different and special place. We offer stability, community, hope and a future to many vulnerable children. We spend considerable time working with pupils and families who need extra support, providing a secure and welcoming inclusive environment.
• 27 different languages are spoken by our learners.
• Approximately one third of pupils speak English as an additional language, more than any other primary school in North Yorkshire.
• Local school of choice for minority ethnic families, currently supporting several refugee families.
• Around 1 in 5 pupils have a special educational need or learning disability, more than 90% of all other primary schools.
• Around 19% of our pupils are ‘disadvantaged’ - more than approximately 80% of North Yorkshire Primary Schools.
• Approximately 58% of pupils live in households with one parent present (Y6 Growing up in North Yorkshire 2016).
• A number of families have social worker involvement - considered to live in chaotic circumstances.
• For many of our families in the Low Harrogate area, the deprivation index indicates being in the bottom 5% nationally for living environment.
• School of preference for placing children from the Harrogate Women’s Refuge and the Hopscotch Looked-after children team.
