Story

Stephen and his brother David are doing a few sponsored running events over the next 6 months to raise money for a defibrillator for alvaston infants and junior school,

We decided to raise money for the defibrillator because our daughter Hollie has a heart condition called long QT which means she can have a sudden cardiac arrest at any moment and the closest defibrillator was the co-op at the bottom of raynesway which is now closed. Having the defibrillator at the school would be vital if there was a time it was needed to be used, although the co-op wasn't that far away in a situation like sudden cardiac arrest we felt by the time it had got to the school it may of been too late.

It wouldn't just benefit Hollie though it would benefit any child or teacher at either alvaston infants or juniors and the nursery next door with anyone else who has a heart condition or those with undiagnosed conditions.

The school is onboard with the idea and the school is willing to train staff on how to use the defibrillator so if we can raise enough money not only for the defibrillator but the staff training would be excellent.

Knowing my child would be in safe hands and other children if they were to need the defibrillator would make me feel more relaxed.

Update September 2020

Unfortunately David can no longer take part in events as he is recovering from an operation, so Stephen will be taking part on his own.
