Update on how things are going in London. Thank you for all your prayers on settling in, I am now feeling settled to life in London and am enjoying the work.
Genesis Football (marginalized outreach) is going well. It can get quite heated sometimes on the pitch but everybody is always happy once we’ve had our lunch. The Bible studies are always encouraging after the football, but only a handful of the guys actually stay for this. Pray that more of the guys will stay for the Bible study.
It’s a bit more difficult to find opportunities to talk about my faith at Fathers Football as there is no lunch or Bible study afterwards. Pray that I will be able to build strong relationships with the guys here and that I will be bold in sharing my faith with them.
I have been encouraged by one of the kids at the kids club on a Thursday (Leo). Apparently he used to roll his eyes whenever people spoke about Jesus and would have said that he didn’t believe in God. He is now calling himself a Christian and offered to read a Christian poem in front of the club last Thursday. Thank God for this change in Leo and pray that he will start coming to church on a Sunday and that he will develop a real desire to know God.
The youth group on a Tuesday is a bit more challenging. This club is an outreach and a few of the kids are quite disruptive during the talks. Pray that God will soften their hearts and that these seeds that are being planted will come to fruition.
We ran a couple of football schools during the October holidays, one in London and the other in Aberdeen. Both went really well. One of the guys at the school in London (George) said at the end of the week that he believed Jesus was the Son of God, after saying at the start of the week that he did not believe in God at all. This was really encouraging as I felt during our discussions that he was hardened to hearing the message. Pray that George will give his life over to God.
