    Story

Due to a technical issue the page was taken down before the bike ride had taken place so it has been reopened as requested for 7 days.

was awoken early on the 9th march to discover Steve had suffered a stroke, he was taken to hospital where we discovered it was the worst case possible. The stroke caused him to lose the right side of his brain, he had an emergency operation to save his life.

The surgeons removed half of his skull. We were told at this point if they had waited a few more hours he would not have survived, to add to all of this he had complete paralysis of the left side.

For anyone that knows Steve they will know what an active guy he is and how much his family mean to him. Spending time with them was his main love and taking his sons on bike rides, swimming, and to football was his life’s joy.

We are now 13 weeks post trauma and as much as he is improving a bit we have a very long and very tough journey ahead. Understandably he has some good days, but also some very bad days but he wants to be home asap. We as his family are as positive as we can be, he now has movement in his left leg but not in his arm, however his big hurdles are his thought processes as the right side of the brain deals with danger and understanding everyday decisions. This will obviously have a huge impact on him in the long term and just dealing with everyday life.

Our reasons for wanting to do this…

As his brothers and best mates we really wanted to do something to help!

Steve and his family mean so much to each of us and if we can help, even just a little, with the financial struggles they now face, this would mean the world to them. On the 16th September we will be doing the 100 mile Wiggle Course bike trail in the New Forest. If you know us, you will know we are not the most natural of sportsmen, so training will be interesting…. That said, we will do our best, if Steve can fight this fight in the amazing way he is we can get a touch saddle sore!!

    Thanks for the support
