Story
Hello my name is Jack.
I created Steps Against Homophobia because I believe everyone deserves to feel accepted, included and able to be themselves without fear of discrimination.
On 1 April 2027, I will begin an 350 mile walk in 18-day walk, from Axminster, Devon to Anfield, Liverpool to raise awareness of homophobia and support the growth of this project. The campaign is built around stories, conversations and community, creating opportunities for people to learn, connect and help build a more inclusive society.
While progress has been made, homophobia and discrimination still exist today. Many LGBTQ+ people continue to experience exclusion, prejudice and the pressure to hide who they are. Through this walk and the wider campaign, I hope to encourage meaningful conversations, challenge misconceptions and show that there are spaces where everyone belongs.
I am organising and funding much of this project myself. To keep costs as low as possible, I will be staying with family and friends during the first week of the journey and covering my own transport costs.
The funds raised will help support:
• Accommodation during later stages of the walk
• Website and digital platform costs
• Campaign materials and awareness resources
• Food and practical walking essentials
• The continued development of Steps Against Homophobia
This walk is only the beginning. My vision is for Steps Against Homophobia to become a lasting platform that promotes inclusion, shares stories and provides resources that help create positive change.
