I'm running the GREAT NORTH RUN & YORKSHIRE MARATHON

In Loving Memory of Chelsea Blue – Supporting Young Performers to grow and succeed

Thank you for taking the time to read our story.

I’m fundraising for the incredible Y PERFORM Musical Theatre Group, based at the YMCA Theatre in Scarborough – a place that has become so much more than just a theatre group for our family.

---

Why We’re Fundraising

On April 12th, 2021, our beautiful daughter Chelsea Blue, just 17 years old, tragically passed away after a long and heartbreaking battle with her mental health and an eating disorder.

Losing Chelsea devastated our family. But doing fundraising for Charities and Clubs like Y Perform helps us keep Chelsea blues Memory alive while helping others.

Chelsea had a deep love for singing, dancing, and performing. Being on stage lit her up inside – it was where she felt most alive, most herself. Her two younger sisters, Madison and Scarlet, inherited that same passion and had already begun performing in local clubs.

But they didn’t just lose a sister that day – they lost their biggest cheerleader, their role model, and their guide. Watching your children go through such pain is every parent’s worst nightmare. We worried how they would cope and how we could help them heal.

How Y PERFORM Helped Us Heal

The Y PERFORM Musical Theatre Group stepped in and supported us in ways we’ll never forget. This group is so much more than a theatre club – it’s a second family.

It gave our girls a safe space – a place where they could express themselves freely, escape the heaviness of grief, and rediscover joy. Through singing, acting, and dancing, they began to heal. They built confidence, developed emotional strength, and most importantly, found a sense of belonging again.

The mentors at Y PERFORM are truly remarkable. They didn’t just support the girls during sessions – they checked in outside of club hours, noticed when something felt off, and offered unwavering kindness and encouragement. Their dedication made all the difference.

I genuinely believe that without this club, Madison and Scarlet would not be the strong, thriving young people they are today.

Why It Matters

Chelsea’s story highlights the very real struggles young people face with mental health. We sadly learned firsthand how under-resourced and overstretched mental health services can be.

That’s why clubs like Y PERFORM are vital. They offer young people:

A creative outlet

A boost in confidence and self-esteem

A way to manage stress and anxiety

A chance to grow emotionally

A community where they truly belong

A place to make forever friends

Performing arts have been proven to help children cope with trauma, grief, depression, and anxiety – and we’ve seen it with our own eyes.

Where Your Donation Goes

100% of your donation will go directly towards:

Costumes

Stage sets

Theatre hire

Materials for set building and painting

The children work so hard – often putting in hours of their own time to bring the shows to life. Every little bit helps. Your donation can support their creativity, confidence, and wellbeing.

So PLEASE, if you can, consider skipping one coffee this week and giving that small amount instead. It truly makes a BIG difference.

Seeing these children light up on stage is one of the most magical things a parent can witness. And with your help, we can give more children the chance to shine like Madison and Scarlet, and all their friends at the Y Perform group do. Every show we are so proud of all of them.

Again a massive thank you to the TEACHERS, MENTORS, FRIENDS, Evie , Jas and Carla that have guided and supported our girls through some of there hardest times . You really are all amazing and probably don't even realise the impact you've all had on there recovery and the impact you and the club have on so many others the attend.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. 💙For what you've done for our girls Madison and Scarlet ❤️

Running in loving memory of Chelsea Blue and to raise awareness of mental health and that clubs like these are fundamental to the health and wellbeing of our children growing up. 💙❤️💙
