Story
I'm raising £5,000 to help make life a little easier for Steve following a life changing event.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year, on 11th of October, I'll be running a marathon to raise money for Steve, who suffered a devastating haemorrhagic stroke on 1 November 2025.
Steve underwent emergency surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where part of his skull had to be removed to relieve pressure on his brain caused by the bleed. He then spent 10 days in intensive care and required a tracheostomy as part of his treatment.
His recovery has been incredibly challenging. After being transferred to New Cross Hospital, Steve became seriously ill with sepsis before eventually moving to Moseley Hall Rehabilitation Hospital, where he continues to work hard on his recovery.
The stroke has left Steve with significant disabilities. He has lost movement on the left side of his body and is now partially sighted, with loss of vision to his left side. Simple everyday activities that many of us take for granted have become major challenges.
As Steve prepares for the next stage of his recovery, a range of specialist equipment and home adaptations will be needed to help make daily life safer and more manageable. This includes a specialist wheelchair, as well as adaptations to his home to support his long-term needs and independence.
I'm running this marathon to help ease some of the financial pressure on Steve and his family and to support him on the road ahead. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a genuine difference.
Thank you for your support. It is hugely appreciated by both Steve and those closest to him.
