Story
Firstly, thank you everyone who helped Steve in the first wave of funding. For those of you who don't know Ava, or didnt see the first fundraise, a link is attached
This sadly marked the return of leukaemia after 2 years remission. I wanted to set up a second JustGiving page as I adore Steve and Ava. I am her naughty Auntie Sarah Notman.
Sadly, things haven’t gone as planned. Medical problems have caused Ava to go through more painful treatments. The doctors were hoping to continue using chemo, but sadly Ava is now going down the riskier route of a bone marrow transplant, for which her brother Harvey will be the donor.
I recently visited Ava in hospital, she was recovering from yet another infection caused by strong Chemo, she was on a food & fluid drip and a morphine drip to relieve the agony of huge ulcers from her mouth to down into her stomach, an earlier op also damaged her voice box, so her speech has been affected, we pray that her beautiful singing voice recovers.
Steve is the predominant carer for Ava and because of the delays of 8 weeks, she's well behind with treatment. He was considering going back to work in November but Ava’s bone marrow transplant is now set for mid October, after which point she will be isolated for two months and only Steve, Ava’s mum and I can visit.
His current funds will not last and this adds extra pressure on top of his stress, so please can we all dig deep once more and donate to our beautiful friend Steve, so that he can continue to support his daughter.
I know he feels uncomfortable with the thought of reaching out again, but we all love and respect him and want Ava to fully recover. She blossoms by being in her dad’s company, as they have such a unique and beautiful relationship. If the transplant is a success, Ava may be able to go back to school in February 2017. Raising £7k will pay Steve’s rent until then, allowing him to focus 100% on Ava. Thank you

8 years agoShe coming home, she's coming home. Exactly 4 weeks after her transplant, Ava has been discharged from hospital. We still have to wrap her in cotton wool of course, but she's out and that's the main thing. This is the picture of a very happy Ava being outside for the time in a month. Such a beautiful moment, such a beautiful girl.

I’m a chef and devoted father of 2. I have given up work to care for Ava while she fights leukaemia for the second time. It's a very trying time for us. Ava and I have a special bond, she is a proper daddy's girl, therefore I need to be with her as much as possible
