I've raised £500 to Help raise funds for Warrington’s Music and Memory singing group who bring together and help people with dementia through music and singing.

Hi all!
For those of you that aren’t aware, I will be taking part in my first ever IronMan event in Bolton on Sunday 15th July (2.4 miles swim, 112 miles cycling and 26.2 miles running – 140.6 miles in total). My previous (and only) triathlon event was a year ago for a half iron distance in Ely (70.3 miles) which I completed in about 7 hours, so a big step up for moi!
More importantly though, I’m raising money for Warrington's Music and Memory Singing Group, who have supported one of my wonderful friend’s family over the years. They provide amazing support for those with dementia and their family by providing incredible companionship, dance events, singing sessions and care packages to name a few things.
Music can help people with dementia to recall all kinds of memories, to boost their confidence and quality of life. It is increasingly becoming a key feature of dementia care as music evokes emotion, and emotion can bring with it memory. By pairing music with every day activities, people can develop a rhythm that helps them to recall the memory of that activity, improving cognitive ability over time. It’s engaging and can bring both physical and emotional closeness with loved ones as it provides a line of communication with them, which may otherwise have not been available to them.
I would love it if you could support them with any donations you can make. Every pound will make a great difference and help many families and those with dementia.
