Story

On the 17th April 2018, James Roby d'Arifat was born at Apollo hospital in Mauritius weighing 3.8kg. 2 days later the doctors picked up a little murmur in his heart. After an ecography and a visit to his pediatrician he was diagnosed with a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot. This condition happens to 1% of babies born in the world and there are no known reasons why...

Tetralogy of Fallot means James will need to undergo open heart surgery within the 1st year of his life. The main problem is that his pulmonary archery which pumps blood into the lungs did not develop well and is smaller then normal. At the moment James can live like this until he is strong and older enough to have the surgery. The Operation cannot be done in our home country Mauritius. After much research and investigation we chose India as the country for his operation. After a visit to India and a consultation with a top surgeon it looks like James will be having the surgery closer to his first birthday (March / April 2019). James will not be medically covered at all with anything to do with the surgery and or heart issues for the future.

The next year will be constant check-ups of James's oxygen levels and new ecographes every 3 months to watch the development of the heart. If Oxygen levels drop to under 85% James will go on medication and if they drop to under 75% it's straight back to India for the operation. Total time in India will be approximately 1 month (pre-op, op, ICU and Post-op).

This page is being set-up in order to collect some funds to help James and his family get through the next year of tests and eventually his main operation in India. He is the parents little fighter and already such a strong boy eating well and gaining weight fast! We know everything is going to be OK - The love and support already received is amazing and we thank everyone for watching over our little James.
