Story
Our beautiful village church in Barnham, West Sussex, has been victim to a number of break-ins, general vandalism and theft over the last few years.
During May and June 2018 the shed, vestry and church were broken into 4 times with items stolen and a great deal of damage caused each time. The cost of repairs and basic security measures all falls on our small congregation.
We have no access to central funds and so we are trying to raise £5000.00 for the following items:
Replacement of churchyard equipment stolen from shed - £250.00
Lock changes and keys - £115.00
Window repair - £285.00
Basic CCTV system - approx £500.00
Security shutters for vulnerable vestry window - £650
Protective grilles for stained glass - £3200
St Mary's has been at the heart of our village for 1000 years - please help us ensure that it remains open as a safe and welcoming place for everyone in our village and beyond.
We are holding a gift day with cream tea on Sunday 29th July from 2.30 to 5.30 in the church and churchyard. Everyone welcome.
