    Story

My name is Heidi Rock and I am 35 years old. When I was 31 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a total shock as I have no family history, was a non smoker and had been in very good health up to that point. I went through 2 operations to remove the tumors and lymph nodes as the cancer had started to spread. I then had Chemotherapy and radiotherapy followed by daily tablets to try and stop the cancer form returning. Once I was given the all clear I started running and trying to regain my former health. I was successful in becoming the healthiest and fittest I have ever been in my life. I went to the gym regularly and entered endurance events and runs. Only last October I completed a half marathon to raise funds for Sense the deafblind charity I work for. Me and my friends and supporters have raised funds for Bloodwise Leukaemia & Lymphoma support, The RAF benevolent Fund and Cancer Research Uk by running through mud and obstacles, running to the beat at Wembley and racing for life every year. In January this year (2016), after struggling with what appeared to initially be a sports injury, I was given the crushing news that the cancer had indeed returned. It had metastasized to my bones and had already affected my pelvis , spine and ribs. After a bone biopsy it was established that this was not a curable cancer. In fact it would most likely kill me in a few short years. It can be treated with Chemotherapy but in a purely palliative way that may give me more time to spend with my family.

I am the mother of two beautiful daughters who are currently 11 and 13 years old and I will fight with every fibre of my body to try and be there for them through to adulthood. I simply want to see my children become adults, I want to live to make all the plans and dreams me and my husband share come true. I would be eternally grateful and incredibly humbled by any donations made.

    Thanks for reading.
