Story

We recently visited a local Country Park with Maia. Whilst walking one of the trails the front wheels of her wheelchair became jammed with a small stick causing the wheelchair to tip forward which caused Maia to come out of the chair. Although no injury to Maia it made us realise that her standard NHS wheelchair is not pratical anywhere other than on smoothe roads and pavements etc We live in one of the most beautifull parts of the world but we are currently unable to enjoy the many off road walks with Maia. With that in mind we have decided to attempt to raise money for a specialised wheelchair which is not available on the NHS. This will alow us to take Maia on off road walks and even the beach whenever we want. It will allow Maia and us to do many everyday activites that others others may take for granted.

The total cost for this is approximately £5,400.00 we hope to raise the additional money through various fund raising events.

I will be completing the Everest Challenge. This is where I will climb the equivalent height of Everest in 60 days. Sounds easy? Here’s the tricky part. I suffer from Psoriatic Arthritis. This is an incurable Autoimmune disease where my immune system basicly attacks my joints and also causes chronic fatigue. I have allowed myself 60 days as during Flares of the disease there will days I’m unable to walk or climb any worthwhile distance. I plan to start this on the 1st of February.

I plan to also organise a fundraising night. Details to follow.

I would be interested to hear from anyone who would be interested in raising money through seperate fundraising events.
