    Story

This year I will have been Diabetic for 25 years. To mark my 25th “Diaversary” I am going to complete twenty-five 5km runs between now and the 16th September 2018. Then I’m going to complete the Worcester 10k.

Earlier this year I learned about the Life For a Child programme which has helped over 18,500 children in 40 developing countries to manage their diabetes. These are children who have to travel over four hours just to get life saving insulin, whose families might have to choose between paying to send them to school or paying to keep them alive. It costs approximately £45 to fund insulin and diabetes education for one child for one year. I want to raise enough money to help at least 25 children because I believe in the programme's mission - NO CHILD SHOULD DIE OF DIABETES.

Folks, thank you so much for your generosity and your support. Seeing those last few donations flying in over the last couple of days was all the motivation I needed to get out there today and nail the Worcester 10k. According to Strava I did it in 56:41 around 8 minutes faster than I'd managed in training. The fundraiser is now well over target and that's down to you all, thank you so much. This week I'll be making the arrangements to get the money over to the Life for a Child Program so they can start using it to, let's be frank, save lives.

25 years ago I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I'm fortunate enough to live in a country where my needs are met by the health service. Now it's time to help some children who aren't so fortunate because no child deserves to die from Diabetes.
