My dad has had stiff person syndrome for over 10 years, he's only recently found others and is trying to help the UK and Ireland charity for stiff person syndrome. The face of this charity is Liz Blows, shown in the picture representing the cause. There is hardly any help for those with the condition, my dad had to purchase his own wheelchair online and pay a company to deliver it to him as he couldn't go to get it himself. People with the condition suffer from a range of symptoms often including muscle spasms and contracted muscles. For my dad his back is bent and his leg muscles are constantly contracted, causing pain and balance problems. He can't walk far and can't reach his feet or pick things up off the floor. Any support would go a long way and would help fund equipment like wheelchairs for those suffering. We might even be able to get research on it done in this country, as there currently is none on the condition, doctors do all they can dishing out pain medications and sending sufferers on their way, but more needs to be done.
