Story

On Saturday 29th June, Stirling Rowing Club are trying to row one million metres over the space of 13 hours in order to raise money for the club equipment fund.

30% of all money will be donated to RTHM (Rowing Together for Healthy Minds), a mental health campaign for rowers. RTHM aspires to raise the profile of mental health in rowing, to inform athletes and coaches about the symptoms of depression and other disorders, and ultimately to make it easier for people suffering from these issues to reach out for help in future. All profits go to their partner charity Mind, who offer information about mental health and provide support to anyone affected by these issues.

The first boat will be on the water at 7.30am and the last will be coming off at 8.30pm. To achieve our goal, it works out that on average, all members taking part will be rowing over a marathon each over the course of the day. We have members of all ages taking part, ranging from 14 to over 80!

The other 70% of the money raised will go towards our equipment fund and will hopefully go towards the purchase of a new boat for the club.
