Story
St Ives Riding for the Disabled in Bingley, West Yorkshire are extremely proud that some of their riders have qualified to take part in the National RDA Championships in Hartpury. We are now fundraising to cover the costs of getting two of our horses and team of volunteers to the event on 13th - 15th July 2018. Our costs will include accommodation and food for the volunteers, stabling and food for 3 days and 2 nights, horse box hire, petrol and other associated costs.
It is a huge privilege to gain a place at Hartpury as competitors come from the length and breadth of the UK and competition is tough.
A large amount of work and commitment is required from the riders, their families and the team of volunteers at St Ives, Bingley, to enable the riders to learn how to navigate the course on horseback. It’s incredibly hard work, but very rewarding for all involved and we are so pleased that our centre will be represented at the National RDA Championships.
About the RDA National Championships:
The RDA National Championships is RDA’s flagship event, bringing together hundreds of competitors of all abilities in events including Carriage Driving, Countryside Challenge, Dressage, Showjumping, Vaulting and Showing.
The Championships has grown year on year and is now bigger than the Paralympics and Para World Championships combined. In previous years it has proved a springboard for the Paralympics, with many of the current Team GB having competed at The Championships.
Since 2002, the RDA National Championships have been held at Hartpury College in Gloucester. Riders who compete at the Championships will have first had to qualify at a Regional Qualifying Competition in one of our 18 Regions by coming either 1st or 2nd in their class. Riders from all over the country compete at the Championships and come away with a sense of achievement, great confidence, new friends – not to mention the odd rosette!
We really appreciate the time you have taken to read our fundraising page and are grateful for the support.
