I've raised £5000 to keep St John's at the heart of our community

St John the Baptist Church, Axbridge, has suffered financially as a result of Covid-19 and is in need of your support! We would normally have regular services and run events and activities for the community, many of which make money enabling us to pay for the upkeep of the Church. Not being able to hold the Church Fete this year has had a big impact on our finances. We are very grateful to those people who regularly support our Church but it costs in the region of £1,000 a week to keep it running.
St John's has been at the heart of Axbridge since the 13th century. The building is very old and beautiful and costs a great deal of money to repair, heat and keep in good order. The Church is a central part of our community for the important moments of peoples' lives as well as for the big events of our Church and community, like Easter, Christmas, Remembrance Day, Mothering Sunday to name but a few. The Church has never been closed throughout its history before Covid-19 and it has inevitably affected our income.
We are having a Gift Day on Saturday 5th September, for cash donations, with the opportunity to donate on line through this JustGiving page. This will help our Church meet its financial commitments and pay for the necessary and expensive repairs that are always needed in a building of this age. If you could contribute something towards our target, Gift Aided if you are able, we would be very grateful.
We would love to hear your stories and see your pictures about what St John's Church has meant to you and your family over the years.
Below you can see a breakdown of the funds we would have usually made during this time.
