Story
A number of children, parents and teachers from St Joseph’s school have entered a team for this years Great Midlands Fun Run on Sunday 3rd June.
We are looking to raise money for 2 important charities.
Laura Brooks raised funds during her battle for 2 important charities close to her heart and asked her family to continue these efforts for her after her passing. Laura wanted to raise funds for new facilities due to be started at Good Hope hospital oncology ward, hoping to ensure first class treatment and care for others in her position. Secondly for the research into treatments of BRAFF mutated cancer, which is the aggressive rare type of cancer Laura suffered with.
Simon Richards experienced the joy of making music and playing the violin, because it was an activity that he could take part in, making excellent progress. Simon suffered from Chronic Brittle Asthma and was very poorly, missing school and his friends. In Simons case, music helped him to be a part of a community of committed, passionate young people. He sadly passed away on 16 August 2015, aged 12. The money raised will go towards the Simon Richards award for young violinists.
