Story
I am an ex-chef now teaching children how to cook within a Bristol secondary school. It has been a shock to me how little the majority of young people know about cooking and how poor their eating habits are. Our school is committed to improving this through education and experience but we are woefully short of basic kitchen utensils in our food teaching room. Our school budget has been slashed and teachers are left to 'make do'. This is impacting on the well-being of our young people....the chefs, teachers, doctors, nurses etc. of the future. Please help us address this.

7 years agoAmazing news. We have broken the £1,000 mark following a generous donation from Charlie Bigham's, producer of fine quality meals, who have recently opened a state of the art facility in Dulcote, close to where I live. I have been at this fundraising for a long time now and I have to end in November, so if anyone is reading this who has not yet donated, please do so now, if you can. Thanks to all.

7 years agoHere is some more great news. We have received a generous donation of £250 from the Portishead Rotary Club. President John Sleight visited the food room at St Katherine's for himself and met with some of our wonderful young people. We are close to a thousand pounds now and this has been achieved from only 17 supporters, so please, if you have not yet donated, help us in whatever way you can. If you cannot help financially just share my posts and leave a message of support on this page. Every little helps!

7 years agoWell. My updates may have stopped over the summer holiday but my fundraising efforts did not. I approached various groups and organisations and the lovely people at Nisbets Catering Equipment in Bristol donated an amazing £300. Thank you so much. I hope to update again soon with more good news about a large donation. If you follow The Leaf at Ham Green and have not yet donated to help keep us going, please read my posts and give whatever little you can.
