Story

We have a really exciting community Arts festival booked for our church in Stockwell, London in October this year. We'd love it to be as fantastic as we can afford and become an annual event.

We've raised 3600.00 so far but need another 1000.00 to make sure that it's a financial success and we're not running at a loss - I'm the organist at the church and directing the festival, and we've planned an Art Exhibition, a one-man version of 3 Men in a Boat, a children's Shakespeare Workshop, a concert with full orchestra and choir of 60 (Bach's Magnificat), a poetry and prosecco evening...

...there's a number of other events as well; it's going to be really wonderful, but extra funding would mean that the long term future of the festival was more secure.

This part of London has a great community feel, and there's loads of talented artists and performers in the area. We're hosting a local student orchestra for our concert (Brixton Chamber Orchestra) and a number of local artists and neighbours are exhibiting paintings: I'm playing for the wedding of one of the actors from the Shakespeare workshop the week before at the church - there's a real neighbourly engagement around this festival... but there are costs involved too to make it happen.

If you're a neighbour or arts enthusiast, or based in Stockwell, Brixton, Clapham or South London, please consider donating to our campaign or publicising our justgiving page: best of all, come along to the St Michael's Arts Festival, Stockwell Park Road, London SW9 0DA, which runs from Weds 4th to Sunday 15th October 2017. Stockwell tube is on the Victoria and Northern lines and only 3 stops from Victoria. The church is 8 mins walk from the tube. The festival website will be live from late August and is www.stmaf.org.

Thank you!
