I've raised £30000 to Shine the Light on St Matthias

Our‘s is simple, it is to raise enough money to pay for the rewiring of the electrics in the church, any excess funds raised will go to other projects to make the church open to many more people.
By supporting this most noble cause you will enable the church to remain open.
This will benefit an entire community. The Church is used not only by its regular members of its congregation but the wider community. Our local school next door St Matthias regularly use the church to hold their assemblies.
The church is home to Stoke Newington's local community choir the Chorus of Dissent and the Elastic Band. They regularly hold concerts in the church and it would be such a shame if they would not be able to use it.
Through dissentersN16 have recently started up working with local schools by writing songs to be performed in concert. In April, 3 local schools Betty Layward, Grasmere Primary and William Pattern held a concert right here.
It would be a shame if these children and more were not able to practice and perform in such a wonderful space.
A number of concerts are now held in the church making this beautiful church open to many more.
This project will enable much safer electrics to be placed in the church which in turn would allow more high quality productions to take place in the church and preserving its history as a space for all.
St Matthias has been open for 166 years. it is a grade 1 listed building and was designed by William Butterfield. It was bombed in the 2nd World War but lost its interior, but retained the brickwork which remains as a testament to great victorian engineering.
Please do support us by donating what you can, and why not visit the church to look around or attend a service.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
