Story

St Michael's Open House Project

James Adam is 80! To celebrate his recent big birthday and also the fact he is relatively fit, he is going to walk 80 miles over 10 days. With the help of sponsors, he wants to raise funds for St Michael's Open House Project.

It all starts today and he is walking around Wendover with Rev'd Sally Bottomer. If you would like to join him on some countryside walks, then please give him a call on 01296 623239.

The current timetable is: 31st May, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th June and the walks include plenty of flat canal footpaths & if you don't want to complete the full walk, there will be pick up points along the way.

St Michael's Open House Project is to build an accessible toilet within the church and also have a useable kitchen. These facilities will ensure that this wonderful church is always part of the community. It also enables us to open the church for groups and a Dementia Cafe which is much needed within Aston Clinton.

Every penny raised goes into St Michael's Open House project and will make a difference.

Rev'd Sally (pictured with James) started off the official walking on Tuesday 30th May and clocked up 9 miles. We have smashed our revised target of £2000 which is amazing so now increasing that to £2500 which I know we can achieve. Every penny raised will go to St Michael's Open House project and our aim is to build an accessible toilet at the church and a new kitchen. These improvements will help us open the church to community events and group as well as eventually holding a weekly Dementia Cafe.

Rev'd Sally is the Rector for St Michael's church and has already walked 9 miles with James. As the Benefice Administrator for St Michael's church, I have helped James set up this page and I will be walking with him later in the month.
