Story

Kerala saw its worst monsoon this year, as heavy rains lashed out and brought 10 out of 14 districts under water. The state is experiencing its worst rains since 1924 rendering more than 1.5 lakh people displaced and 67 deaths. Due to heavy rains and wind, more than 10,000 people have lost their homes in the flood. It has been Kerala’s worst rain, causing great damage to life and property. The roads have suffered the worst damage, with about 10,000 km of roads including National and State Highways, left completely destroyed. Overall 1209 relief camps have been set up across 10 districts in the state.

Stockport Malayali community are planning to contribute monetary help to the Cheif Ministers disaster fund to contribute towards operations, which involve the distribution of medical kits, food supplies and first aid to the victims. Some immediately needed materials would be water purifiers, non-perishable packed food, utensils, blankets, seasonal clothing, first aid kits, toiletries including sanitary napkins, underwater flashlights and batteries, water bottles, backpacks, mosquito nets, tarpaulins to build makeshift shelter etc.

Stockport Malayali community requests your kind monetary support for this cause and to help the victims in this difficult time, for it is in giving that we all can find our greatest redemption.
