I've raised £1000 to assist Stroke survivors and their families/ partners to benefit from the physical & mental wellness of water activities.

Hi there, my name is Danny. I am 46 years old, a husband, a father of twins and 2 years ago I survived multiple Strokes due to an undiagnosed rare adrenal gland tumour. I required 2 days of surgery and remained in ICU for 10 days. I am still adapting to my new normal, and like anyone after a life changing event, I have found recovery challenging.
At the heart of my recovery journey has been my family & friends and without their support I would not be capable now of trying to help other Stroke survivors.
I am passionate about encouraging other survivors and their family/ carers to gain from the physical and mental wellness that the ocean provides. My own recovery has benefitted hugely from being in or around the sea and I have seen first hand how our relationships have strengthened from our family visits to the beach. I was able to enjoy the sea as a direct means of exercise and as a great environment to have fun with my kids.
To promote life after Stroke, in 2022 I am raising funds to deliver beach sessions to other survivors and their loved ones here in Cornwall. These sessions will focus on both getting in the sea safely and enjoying the beach environment with family and friends. They will be managed by a new community project partnering with an existing outdoor pursuits provider. I will be undergoing my own physical challenge to walk/ run from Newquay to Sennen and other friends are supporting by fundraising with their own challenges to contribute to the beach sessions.
