Story

Did you realise the Christmas lights use 6500 bulbs, that's 1200 that zig zag down across the High Street and 5300 on the Christmas trees and along the walls throughout the Town.

Great news! This year Stony Stratford’s Christmas lighting display will use 100% LED bulbs, which means a lot less energy will be used.

To do this the Stony Stratford Business Association has purchased nearly 1600 new bulbs costing about £6,500. These are to replace the final 1200 in the High Street that are still the old style filament bulbs and a few in reserve.

On top of that we spend some £3,000 every year for maintenance and associated costs.

We always ask the businesses in the town to help us raise the money and very generous they are too, and the community contributes through the Grand Christmas Draw. As just this year it’s costing a lot more than usual, we’re asking those who love and enjoy the decorations if they could also give a small donation.

Any amount will be greatly appreciated and please rest assured, 100% of anything received will go to the Lighting scheme, the Stony Stratford Business Association is run entirely by volunteers for the benefit of making Stony what it is, an absolutely wonderful Town that we can all be proud of.
