I've raised £500 to aid the work of the animal charity Stop Yulin Forever. To raise money I will be climbing five Scottish mountains over 3000ft in five days.

Every year at the Yulin Dog Meat Festival thousands of dogs and cats are tortured and slaughtered for consumption. The animals, many of whom are stolen pets, are transported to Yulin, China, from far distances, horrendously crushed in cages where they are unable to move with no food or water. During the festival the already terrified dogs and cats are subjected to agonising beatings and finally killed in the street in the most inhumane way. Their bodies are then cooked and eaten by citizens who believe it will bring them good luck.
This is an unimaginable, inexplicable and vile act and yet it happens every year. The first Yulin Festival was held in 2009 and the next one will take place on 21st June 2018. Unfortunately, Yulin is not the only place in Asia where the dog and cat meat trade is rife.
I work as an animal care assistant and am extremely passionate about the welfare of animals, wonderful beings who bring light into the world and into people's lives. Stop Yulin Forever, a charity very close to my heart, is working to put a stop to the Yulin Festival and the dog meat trade and have so far rescued and rehomed many dogs destined for this brutal end.
In order to raise money to help their cause I will be climbing five Munros (Scottish mountains above 3000ft) over five days between 18th-22nd June, the week in which the next festival takes place. As much as I like hiking this will be a big challenge for me as I have never hiked this much in this timeframe before and have only climbed four Munros to date. I hope to raise at least £500 with all proceeds going to the charity.
