Story

We're seeking to raise £3500 over the next two months to cover the costs of a stork mural and an associated interpretation board in the heart of Storrington's town centre at Place Villerest.

We'd be most grateful for any size contribution to this exciting project.

BACKGROUND:

In 2025 Storrington together with Knepp Wildland became part of the European Stork Villages Network. The old English name for this West Sussex village is Estorchetone, meaning “the town” or “abode of storks”. It's a reminder that these iconic birds were once closely connected with this landscape.

This connection is set to be celebrated through a striking new mural by a Brighton street artist working as @SinnaOne. His design will bring the white stork story vividly into Storrington’s streetscape, creating a landmark artwork that reflects both local heritage and a hopeful future for nature.

This exciting project has full planning permission and is now ready to go ahead. Our target is ambitious, but with your support we can make it happen in time for the White Stork & Nature Festival, which this year, falls on Saturday 23 May.

Preparations for the mural will begin shortly, including repainting the wall of the commercial property. The colour will be a soft slate-grey blue that will form the sky backdrop for this artwork.

We need your help. Every little helps and we'd be most grateful for anything you can spare. 🙏
