Story
Our school community has always believed that small acts of kindness can lead to big change. Therefore a few years ago we launched our Mountain Challenge initiatives:
□ In 2018, 10 students completed the Three Peaks challenge, raising over £7,000 for St Barnabas
□ In 2019, 15 students walked the highest mountains in North Wales, raising over £6,500 for Guild Care
□ In 2022, 16 students walked parts of the Wainwright challenge, raising over £8.000 for Turning Tides
□ In 2023, 20 students completed the West Highland Way & 36 students completed part of the South Downs trail (by night) to raise over £12,000 for Marie-Curie.
□ In 2024, 20 students completed the Hadrian’s Wall Walk & 60 students completed part 2 of the South Downs trail (by night) to raise over £14,000 for Marys Meals.
□ In 2025, 20 students completed the Cambrian Way Walk & 60 students completed part 3 of the South Downs trail (by night) to raise over £12,000 for S.V.P – Worthing.
This year, we are coming together to support ANCOP Community Development and help fund the building of a multi-purpose hall for the ANCOP community in Samal. This space will provide a place for learning, gatherings, and opportunities that can help improve lives and strengthen the local community.
Throughout the year, students from different year groups will be taking part in a range of fundraising events and challenges, including charity walks, community activities, and school events. Every effort, whether big or small, brings us one step closer to making this project a reality.
Challenge 1 - Thursday, 14th May and Sunday, 17th May 2026.
The Cumbria Way is one of the most iconic long-distance walks in Northern England, stretching from the southern coast in Ulverston, to the northern city of Carlisle. This challenging route traverses the heart of the Lake-District. The Cumbria Way is as demanding as it is rewarding. Student will not be walking the entire route but taking on three of the highest mountains along its trail, Scarfell Pike (979m), Hellvelyn (950m) and The Old Man of Coniston (803m).
The challenge itself should not be underestimated. This will be a physically challenging experience not just because of the total walking distance (about 45km), or the total height of the all the mountains walked (about 3000m), but because the weather and terrain play an important part of the challenge.
Challenge 2 - Friday the 19th of June - South Downs by Night
On Friday, 19th of June 2026 we aim to finish our 4-year South Downs Journey. Students in year’s 7, 8 and 9 have opportunity to walk between Winchester station and Petersfield along the South Downs Way. Over the last three years, we, as a school, have been walking sections of the South Downs Way to raise money for various charities. This will be the final part of our South Downs Journey.
The South Downs way is a spectacular and stunning route that moves through the heart of Sussex. What makes this a challenge is that we do it through the night! Students will finish the challenge on Saturday, 20th of June. Students who would like participate will need to raise a minimum of £100, all of which will be donated to the school’s charity.
Together, we can change lives—one step at a time. Thank you for supporting our school and helping us build hope for others.
