    Story

St Peter's Church sits in the rolling countryside of south Leicestershire - near to Market Harborough. It is an historic church with a Grade II* Listing, a fine building and large for a parish church. It is a landmark that can be seen for miles around.

More importantly to me, St Peter's is a church that serves the people of three villages in its parish, East Langton, West Langton and Church Langton. It hosts services and worship that marks the key moments in people's lives and the lives of their families. It hosts services for the children, parents and staff of the primary school across the road. It offers a space of peace and contemplation in busy times.

As a member of the small team of volunteers that make up the PCC (Parochial Church Council) since 2012, we have worked hard to improve and maintain the structure of the building. All churches face challenges in this way but St Peter's size makes even the smallest of jobs expensive. However, over the years, with the support of the community, we have made progress, installing water, repairing cracked gutters, clearing the church yard, following a maintenance programme for the building inside and out.

Last summer though, thieves targeted the North Aisle roof, stealing lead twice in three weeks - with the insurance claim and donations from the community, we were close to authorising the repairs but the thieves came again, this time attacking the South Aisle roof. Suddenly, we were faced with double the costs, impossible to achieve with our existing resources.

Therefore, we have reached out to the community, grant bodies and volunteers to help with our project. Our hope is to make the repairs during the summer of 2018 but we need your help.

We have a Spring Concert on 5th May and have launched this JustGiving page alongside to try and raise as much as we can to go towards the repairs. Your help would be immense

    Best wishes and thank you!
