Story
St Peter’s Church , Prestbury , Cheshire was built in 1220 , it is a Grade 1 listed building and has over the years been added to and changed . The clock on the church tower has been keeping time in the village for nearly 500 years , it was first recorded in the Church Wardens Accounts in 1580 . The timber dial on the clock requires major repair work or replacing and fund raising has recently started and we need your support so please help so that the “heart beat” of the village may continue well into the future .
The repair or replacement work requires the attention of specialist clockmaker craftsmen and there are few firms in Britain who are able and capable of doing this work to meet the strict standards that are required .
The cost of the work is in excess of £12000 , to ensure that this amenity continues to keep time for us all .
