Strategi's MD takes on Atlantic Coast Challenge to support the Symmetrical Charity
Strategi Solutions is kicking off its fundraising efforts for Symmetrical Charity with Managing Director Rob Fisher walking the equivalent of three marathons in one weekend, when he tackles the epic Atlantic Coast Challenge.
The challenge takes place on the weekend of 8-10th October 2021 will see Rob walking along the windswept Cornish Coast starting near Padstow and finishing at Lands End in Cornwall, covering 78.6 miles across some of the wildest coastlines in Britain.
By taking on such an extreme challenge, Rob is aiming to raise more than £500 to help Symmetrical.
Rob said, “A friend of mine called me to say that he wanted to do the Atlantic Coast Challenge which is a 79 mile walk from Padstow to Lands’ End over three days. After politely refusing at first, he convinced me to do it! “With the gyms closed last year I really enjoyed my daily one-hour walks, and I noticed the positive effect it had on both my mental health and my sleeping.
“Preparing myself physically for the challenge has been difficult and time-consuming, especially as I’ve recently moved house over the summer which has affected my training. However, last week I walked 35 miles, so I’m gradually building up my distance.” He added, “I’m hoping that I can raise a good amount of money for Symmetrical, who do such important work to support young care leavers ensuring they get the best possible opportunities in life.”
About Symmetrical
Symmetrical is a registered charity with the sole purpose of supporting care leavers in North Staffordshire aged 17 to 25. Set up during lockdown and led by Lillian Dodd, Joanne Powell-Beckett and Tina Holdcroft, the charity supports children leaving the care system in Stoke-on-Trent. The charity was chosen as part of Strategi Solutions ongoing commitment to giving back to the local community.
The vision of Symmetrical is that young people leaving care have the same chances as their peers to lead happy, purposeful and well-balanced lives, and their mission is to surround care leavers with support and help them to become independent adults with successful careers, strong relationships and a positive outlook on life.
Symmetrical aims to support young people on their journey to independence by: offering 1-2-1 mentoring, providing them with access to a support network that will grow with them, helping them to establish relationships and to get support from other local and national charities, helping them to access vocational opportunities and to find opportunities to learn life skills, and offering them a safe space and social activities.
