Story

On the back of one of the most successful years for Strathglass Shinty Club the youth have decided to run the Inverness 5K on March the 9th to help support the development of youth shinty and strive to get as many people from the surrounding area joining our club be it as a player, volunteer or supporter.
Strathglass is more than just a shinty club it is a community and this ethos is something which permeates through all age levels. The youth is the future of Strathglass Shinty Club and to prove their commitment not just on the field but off the field over 21 children have signed themselves up for the challenge many of whom are under the age of 12 and never run such a distance.
When asked why they wanted to do it, one child summed it up beautifully.
"I love Shinty, without it my life it would be pretty boring, it gets me out of the house and it has enabled me to meet many friends. I am not from a Shinty background but I was welcomed in and even though I couldn't afford to buy a stick I got given one so I could practise. I want every child who plays to have a stick and a helmet of there own".
Help support our youth to ensure no child is put off playing a sport due to cost. If you could sponsor the children any amount big or small it would make their efforts worthwhile.
Thank You
