Story
TL:DR : - - Friends, I need your help. Eighteen months ago I emigrated from Kent to Holland with my girlfriend and child in search of a new life. Sadly it hasn't worked out, and the Dutch Government have revoked our visas. I need to move back to the UK as a matter of urgency - fortunately my employment prospects in the UK have improved since we left, so I can happily repay any donations once I'm back and on my feet again.
All I'm looking for is about £2000 to cover the cost of hiring a Luton van and a contribution towards the deposit for a new flat to rent. At the moment I can only save (£200/300) pounds per month and we need to leave Holland sooner rather than later. We're both Ingress players (johnloomis201 and strawberriepuff), so after much soul-searching I'm asking in the communities for help. All I'd ask for is a fiver or if you know of anyone that would lend a Luton Van for 72hours so we can get our stuff back to the UK and try to begin again, I have a little saved for a deposit but not quite enough.
I know it's a bit different to the usual appeals, but I'm getting desperate and would like to appeal to the wonderful family worldwide that makes Ingress what it is for all of us. Thank-you.
Full Story: --
Hi, I'm James and this appeal is about me, my girlfriend Neko and our daughter Caitlyn.
In 2016 we were given the opportunity to move from Kent to The Netherlands where we had secured housing and care to help with Neko's lifelong mental health problems. Neko developed crippling Anorexia Nervosa during 2015/16 and was also diagnosed as autistic. She fought very hard to fight her illnesses and gain some semblance of normal life living with debilitating depression and anxiety. The Netherlands promised much faster access and wider array of mental healthcare for Neko so as a family we emigrated.
I worked in hospitality as a Hotel Manager and gave up work in 2016 to help care for Neko and our 5 year old daughter Caitlyn. Myself and Neko are both avid gamers - we use games such as Warcraft, Fortnite, Ingress and Pokémon Go to take time away from the health problems and spend time together as a family.
Initially the medical care in the Netherlands was much more proactive than the UK, however this was not to last. Sadly, the care system in The Netherlands has now let Neko down, beginning in October 2017 with a failed GP and mental health team who seemed unprepared to deal with her care. The Eating Disorder inpatient treatment clinic ignored Neko when she had a mental breakdown and she became extremely distressed: locking herself in her room wanting to self harm as a cry for help. The staff left her completely alone until I arrived two hours later and only then did the staff make any contact with her. The decision was made to remove Neko from the clinic as even the doctors in charge of her care believed it was not a safe or viable environment for her care.
After being removed from the clinic both our GP and mental health team completely cut ties citing that if she wasn't in the Eating Disorder Clinic that they could do nothing else. Due to the withdrawal of the care package we were told at the end of December by the Government that we had to return to the UK. I have been appealing this decision and the last attempt was overturned a fortnight ago. The last resort is an appeal in person at The Hague. Sadly, this looks doomed to failure too. We now have to return to the UK as soon as practicable to begin treatment for Neko and regain some stability for our daughter.
Due to being unable to work until Neko's treatment is progressing, our savings have drastically depleted and financially we are unable to return without some assistance. We don't have a lot of stuff so it will all fit in a Luton Van. If I could afford to hire a van for 72 hours then I could get my family home to England and I can start earning again in the hospitality sector. Please help me.
