Story

Lizzie Violet, our founder, has had three different projects over the years all focusing on feeding and sterilising the stray dogs in North Goa. First there was M.aid 4 Dogz, then came RED, cofounded with Sarah Gash, and now Stray Blessed. Our dream was that all 3 projects could unite, and resources could be shared, and this has happened in time for the monsoon of 2022. We are called Stray Blessed. We became an outreach programme for ASA animal shelter Agonda and formed ASA UK registered charity. Stray blessed is now servicing up to four hundred dogs. We are changing the conditions for the strays and members from the team have trapped hundreds of dogs for sterilisation and injuries since 2018.

We do not receive any help or funding from the government we rely solely on donations from what we have raised in our own small way.

As an Outreach of ASA Animal Shelter Agonda, Stray Blessed has a wonderful future and is providing a much-needed service to the beach dogs in North Goa.

Stray Blessed provides food and medical treatment to the strays as well as trapping dogs for sterilizations. We trap and sterilize the dogs in hope that it will stop the birth of unwanted puppies that get dumped and struggle to survive as strays.

We hired a vet assistant called Anjani, who previously worked at ASA and mission rabies. Now he works for Stray Blessed, feeding and treating dogs onsite, in the street and on the beaches. He also helps trap for ABC. Alongside Anjani we have Nandu who also feeds the dogs and our driver Manju all happy to make the animals lives better. Through Stray Blessed we now cover much more ground and have been able to work within a network of animal feeders and volunteers who support our work. We run a dog kitchen where we cook chicken and rice daily for the dogs in parts of Candolim on the beach, the streets and on Baga beach where we work as a team with other feeders to reach the hungry dogs.
