Story

Let's get people talking about Peace

We are a tiny group of volunteers who want to bring more Peace into the world. We don’t have all the answers but we want people to explore what Peace means to them in order to sow the seeds for a peaceful future. A 'seed' can be a personal thing like forgiving someone, a positive media story or a big active community gathering tackling violence against women and children.

Every year we put on The Little Big Peace Event which sets out to explore the culture and concept of peace in an inspiring and open-minded atmosphere. It changes every year and can be a day or a week of events. Our attender survey showed that over 73% said it made them think about being more peaceful and 68% said they felt inspired to do something to cause peace.

We need your help to keep going!

Every year is different but over the last 7 years we have offered talks, film, music, massage, hugs, yoga, a giant knitted scarf (see photo above), school workshops + more, almost all for free to the people of Streatham and beyond. We've held an inter-faith event, heard from a former gang member, public officials, parents, young people and many others.

September 2018

The festival takes place in September every year on or close to the International Day of peace on the 21st . All events apart from schools workshops are open to the public and are featured our website too. Hopefully you'll see us in the media too: previously we have been featured in Marie Claire magazine, Positive News, Lambeth Weekender, South London Press and BBC Radio. We do a huge amount on a small budget (and in our spare time).

Why we need £1,000

£1000 will help us towards the essential things that we must do which include: - printing and distributing the festival flyer so everyone knows the festival is happening , working with schools and youth groups , hiring an event organiser for a couple of days to help us pull it all together .

Thanks in advance everyone!
