    Story

Penzance's Street Food Project is a volunteer-led community action group which provides a hot, nutritious and nourishing meal - 7 nights a week - to some of Penzance's most vulnerable individuals.

This includes members of the homeless community (street homeless), those living in temporary accommodation with no access to kitchen facilities (vulnerably housed), and families and individuals who have fallen upon hard times due to changes in their benefit payments which often lead them unable to afford food (Such as the transition to the new Universal Credit payment which often leaves individuals without benefits for weeks on end)

Street Food Project provides a hot drink, hot meal and pudding to, on average, 30 individuals each night. We operate 365 days a year, and function solely on the generosity of the volunteers (many who purchase ingredients for meals) with support from a handful of local businesses who provide us with a dish to serve on various nights of the week.

We estimate that it costs around £2 per person served to operate this service. This includes the cost of the disposables required for service and the building and insurance costs which enable us to operate with the best interests for our volunteers and guests alike. Please help us to continue to offer support to those who need it most by donating what you can.
