Story
University students from KCL, QMBL, UCL and LSE came together in October 2016 to restore an element of confidence, integrity and self-respect to our homeless community. We united for the first event of its kind, to not just provide useful services for the homeless, but to bring together the community and give a humanising experience for people often forgotten by society.
There are many charity projects aimed at helping the homeless but the more we work with them, the more we realise that what we do is not enough. We can opt for the easier solutions but it takes courage to admit that we are letting people on the streets down. We realise that our duty to them is beyond that and we’ve come together to make a bigger difference. But we can’t do it alone.
Our initiative has since developed and expanded to provide further support and inspiration for our communities with long-term projects. Teaching basic life support skills to staff at homeless shelters and children in schools, to inspiring our youth to pursue careers in healthcare and running workshops to teach them how to suture are examples of new ventures that we are pursuing in this academic year.
"They ask you, [O Muhammad], what they should spend. Say, "Whatever you spend of good is [to be] for parents and relatives and orphans and the needy and the traveler. And whatever you do of good - indeed, Allah is Knowing of it."" (Quran 2:215)
Streets of London is our bi-annual event where we aim to provide various stalls and services to serve the homeless community of London including hot food and drinks, snacks, gift bags, warm clothing, haircuts, employment and housing advice, medical and dental advice and much more!
This event will be next taking place on the 9th of December and we would be ever so grateful if you could help us raise the funds required to host this event, in addition to the other projects that we are planning to make a real difference to our community.

7 years agoWe at CIP would like to thank everyone for their generous donations. Because of you, we are now able to run our Streets of London event, but let's not stop there! We have increased our goal to £1000 which would allow us to purchase further items of clothing and daily essentials for our attendees, to make the tough winter season more bearable. Any leftover funding will be used to fund future CIP projects. Thank you once again, and we pray that these donations are a means for you to enter eternal bliss.
