    Story

    Hi everyone!

On the 24th of November (2016), my mum had suffered a major haemorrhagic stroke on the right side of her brain (bleed on brain). As a result of this, she has lost her sensation in the left side of her body completely, and is still struggling to cope with everyday life, inside and outside of our home.

On the day the stroke had occurred, my 14 year old sister was the only one present at home with my mum, whilst I was making my way back from sixth-form in the car with my dad. My sister had described my mum's situation as "unexpected and terrifying". My mum was in the middle of having a shower, and had suddenly collapsed in the bath tub after her left leg gave way (wobbly and loss of sensation and control) , which was then followed up by her left arm becoming completely unresponsive. As she layed in the bath tub, she was quite frantic and in shock, resulting in her having a seizure and a fit, before banging her forehead on the metal tap, due to constant movement as a result of panicking. She was knocked out unconscious and had received instant support from the paramedics, once my sister had made a call to the emergency services, as well as myself, my father, and immediate family members nearby.

Straight after this emergency, she was admitted to hospital for a life saving 2 hour long operation on the brain, in order to drain out all of the excess blood from her head. She was unconscious for 3 days and had spent 1 year (entirety of 2017) in and out of hospitals and rehab centres.

Her current state is a lot better now (speech was not affected / only taste and movement, control and balance of the left side of the body) , as she is able to walk in, out of and up and down the stairs of the house, as well as walking a few minutes on the concrete pavements outside of our home. She is receiving 2 hours of physiotherapy from professionals every week, and that is not enough exercise to enhance and improve her physical state, as the muscles in her body are still quite tense, resulting in spasms, pins and needles, and a lot of pain and discomfort. Also, she is taking set amounts of medication, at two occasions everyday to regulate and help her body and mind.

I am very grateful to my sister who was there at the time of the emergency, the NHS who helped aid my mum, friends and family for support, and most importantly, god for giving my mum a second chance with life.Being only 18, and studying for my upcoming A Level exams at sixth form, I try my best to balance school life with helping my mum out at home, as does my sister and father respectively.

My sole purpose of attempting to raise £1000 for my mum, is in order for her to get back near to normality as possible. With this money, I would be able to purchase various equipment, which are specific for her needs, in order to help with her recovery.

(LIST OF EQUIPMENT I WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE FOR MY MUM) leg and arm exercise peddlers, ankle weights, stability boards, arm peddlers, arm skates, dumbbells, wrist weights, music coordination glove, therapy putty, resistance bands, and most importantly, a treadmill. These various equipments would help target and work the specific parts/muscles/nerves of her body in order to speed up her ongoing recovery in an efficient and easy manner.

This is just one of the way's myself and my sister aim to give back to our mum after all the good she has done for us. As she is only 46 years of age, she is a young woman who still has a life ahead of her and is determined to get back to her best in terms of feeling confident emotionally, psychologically, and most importantly, physically. (Movement, control, balance of body)

Myself and my sister would be grateful for any donations put forward to the final amount of £1000, and would be gratified for the opportunity to provide our mum with key equipments, which could potentially and most certainly change her life for the better.

Please support us in reaching our final goal! It is well appreciated. Thank You and God bless. x
