St Swithun’s Brass Band has been a proud part of Bridport’s community since 1952. For decades, the band has brought music to local events and inspired generations of musicians to pick up an instrument and play.
Like many community groups, the band faced significant challenges in the wake of the pandemic—reduced numbers, fewer performances, and uncertain direction. But thanks to the dedication of long-standing members and a renewed sense of purpose, the band is making a strong comeback.
2025 marks an exciting new chapter, with a new musical director at the helm and a growing calendar of events. Alongside an expanded repertoire of fresh and engaging music, we’re also looking to update our appearance.
Our current concert jackets are dated, worn, and difficult to replace. To modernise our image and stay practical for all seasons, we hope to introduce smart waistcoats and weatherproof jackets instead. While more cost-effective than traditional concert attire, these still represent a significant expense for a small community band.
That’s where we need your help.
We’re reaching out to friends, supporters, and the wider Bridport community to help us raise funds toward these new uniforms. Any contribution—big or small—will make a real difference and help us continue performing proudly and professionally.
