I've raised £500 to help raise funds to send pupils from The Farnborough Academy to Ghana to work with Venture Force at their orphanage

For over half a decade The Farnborough Academy has been actively working with Venture Force Ltd to support an ambitious orphanage project in the rural Volta region of Ghana. Venture Force is a highly experienced expedition and adventure provider for schools and adults alike. Venture Force has invested considerable resources in supporting a number of wildlife and humanitarian projects, taking groups of individuals from schools and organisations all over the world, to work on, and be involved in, sustainable projects.
The Farnborough Academy has donated computer hardware equipment, text books and study guides. Alongside these donations the Academy has also been involved in fund raising activities to help develop the Eugemot Orphanage and allow for more work to take place.
The Farnborough Academy is now in a position to launch its first ever international trip outside of Europe, taking Y10 and Y11 pupils to Ghana. Last academic year Farnborough pupils were given a detailed presentation by Tom Tuckwood, a Venture Force director explaining the potential opportunities and how they could be actively involved in the orphanage project. Pupils were extremely excited and overwhelmed by this life changing opportunity. It was asked that pupils applied for a place on the trip giving their own personal reasons for wanting to be involved. A large number of applications were submitted and as an Academy we were staggered by the amazing responses given by the pupils. A group of unique individuals have now been selected and we, as an academy, embark on supporting these individuals to raise the necessary funds needed to realise this life changing opportunity. Parents of these individuals are making considerable efforts to support these young people and the academy in this quest. Whilst in Ghana pupils will be immersed in the local culture and actively contribute to the construction and development of the Eugemot Orphanage.
We are encouraging the selected pupils to try and engage with community projects local to the school, to raise funds. As an academy we firmly believe in community projects and this is a superb opportunity to develop links and strengthen relationships.
To help with the fundraising Mr Dykes, Mr Baines, Mr and Mrs Higgs, Mr Thomas, Miss Evans and Mrs Morris have decided to run a 10K to raise funds... For some this is a little longer than their usual Parkrun!
Please give generously.
