I've raised £500 to contribute towards helping to buy Laura Wakefield the best possible prosthetic leg. I will be cycling 100 miles from Oxford to Cambridge

As you may or may not know, in February one of my closest friends from when I was in Liverpool (and former colleague), Laura Wakefield, received the devastating news that she had a tumour in her foot. Not only that, but the only way to treat it and prevent it from spreading is through having her leg amputated.
Now 3 months on, Laura has made excellent progress and is under way with her rehabilitation. She has shown unbelievable strength and positivity since she received the news.
It is events like this that make you want to make the most of life whilst you can and if you can make a difference whilst doing it then that's even better.
I have signed up cycle 100 miles with work on the 21 September. The ride is from Oxford (where I went to uni) to Cambridge (where i work now). This is the first time I have got on a bike since 2012 when I struggled to keep up with my cousin, Tom, riding around Central Park in NYC. Safe to say the training is underway!
In doing this ride, I am hoping to raise money for Laura to help her buy the best prothetic she can and to allow her to have a bit more normality back in her liife.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated....thanks in advance for your support.
In Laura's own words:
'I never thought this would happen to me but it's something i now have to learn to live with and I'm sure it will give me a completely new lease of life. I've always been brought up to know what's important in life and what isn't and the fact I will have a prosthetic will not change who I am or define me and I will make sure above anything that I have the exact same quality of life and will continue to do every single little thing in the exact same way.Seriously thank you to everyone who's helped and been there for me on this surreal journey so far. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart
