Story
My son has been in the Covid critically, extremely vulnerable category since the pandemic due to a liver transplant at the age of 2. He had the Pfizer vaccine and soon after suffered with a life-threatening reaction. After a short stay at Colchester Hospital he was transferred as an emergency to Addenbrookes, Cambridge. Within hours, he was in a critical condition and had an emergency splenectomy that saved his life. The road to recovery was slow with numerous IV drugs and ongoing medication for the rest of his life.
My brother is, well.. car mad! He had the idea of raising money for the amazing work that Addenbrookes do as we have personally seen and will be forever grateful for! My son has now passed his theory driving test and will soon (hopefully) pass the practical test. After many texts and calls, we decided it would be a great experience for the three of us to drive in a London taxi from Lands End to John o' Groats (from Norwich via Suffolk and ending at Addenbrookes Hospital).
The fundraising plan is to buy the taxi (at a budget of £1000), advertise our adventure in the media (please feel free to share!) and raise as much money as possible for the Haemotology and Liver units at Addenbrookes, who continue to care for my son so brilliantly. We will be auctioning the taxi after the drive and all money will go straight to the hospital units.
Thank you in advance for supporting our project and helping save more lives, while also recognising the great work that Addenbrookes do. Whatever you can donate is truly appreciated, whether its £1 or £1000!
