Story
We are aiming to raise funds to send two girls, who want to pursue careers in STEM, to Rainbow Hope Secondary School in Malawi in September 2024. These girls will be on a STEM scholarship, meaning they have a particuarly strong interest in following careers in Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths.
Secondary school in Malawi is for fee paying students meaning a huge number of students that pass their primary exams do not get a chance to go school. 6 out of 7 girls in Malawi are not enrolled in secondary school, while 3 out of 7 girls are married before the age of 18.
We need your help. Each girl that attends Rainbow Hope Secondary School pays around £590 a year and needs to attend for four years to complete their education. These fees include full boarding, mentoring, supplies and additional support with their studies.
We want to raise enough funds to send two girls to the school that have a strong interest in STEM careers- the school is set up for them and has fantastic facilities but without sponsorship many girls are still being deinied this chance to finish their education.
If we raise £5,000 it will fund two girls for their entire secondary education (4 years).

The History of Rainbow Hope Secondary School
In 2016 Kate and Dom Webb worked in collaboration with Malawi community leader Joseph Makwakwa and built Rainbow Hope Secondary School. It was a dream and over 4 years a huge amount of people from all over the world made it happen. Today 4 classrooms stand on the site, 250 students are enrolled, water is supplied by a borehole, electricity from solar panels, boarding houses for the girls and a specially built STEM classroom offers students the best chance to complete their education and go into full time employment and follow their dreams.
A word from our Malawi team. Orbis DMC.
1. Criteria of Selection
Students are selected into the programme after having gone through an assessment. The government designed Beneficiary Enrolment Tool is used during the assessment process. The tool checks vulnerability levels of potential beneficiaries to be selected into the program. The student must be unable to financially support and show a good academic record and potential to succeed.
2. Payment
All fee payments go through The Orbis Foundation (Malawi charity arm of Orbis DMC) who process, make payment and document all funds.
3. Follow the students
Orbis DMC are committed to providing annual reports on the students and managing the support within Malawi.
