Story

Pictured is Stuart on his birthday 23rd March 2023, the day we saw a consultant who agreed to move forward with Surgery. In the photo is 4 of his 5 children, wife and inlaws.

Stuart was diagnosed with kidney cancer back in 2016, he had surgery to remove his kidney and tumor, there was no follow up chemo or radiotherapy as it wasn’t effective on the RCC cancer that he had.

Stuarts operation was successful and he had checks every 3 months until we moved back to the UK and Covid hit.

6 months ago (Sept 2022) Stuart suffered a heart attack and they suspected his RCC kidney cancer was back, this time a tumor in the head of the pancreas.

Stuart has been ever so poorly since his heart attack in Sept 2022, he has had 4 stays in hospitals for various reasons. The tumor caused an ulcer in his duodenum which the blood thinners from the heart attack caused to bleed more.

It took 4 months for Stuarts blood levels to be stabilised, after several blood transfusions and iron transfusions his HB came back up from 60 to 98.

After a long 6 months of sleepless nights, worry, numerous hospitals stays due to bleeding and pain, numerous scans, procedures and referrals we are hoping if all goes well Stuart will have a Whipple procedure in London in the next few weeks. (April/May 2023)

Most days Stuart is cold, weak, and tired, it’s soul destroying watching the person you love unable to do simple things that we used to enjoy such as going for a walk, playing football with the kids, walking up stairs without being exhausted and needing a nap.

There will be a long recovery ahead, as it is a big surgery. I’m sure there will be many ups and downs but we will get though it together, we have amazing family and friends to support us.

Thankyou to anyone who has taken the time to read out story, share it or donate 🧡
