Sponsored Walk – 100 Miles in May 2024

During Lockdown I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, which affects my movement, my breathing and my speech. Medication and a great team of doctors, nurses, speech and physio therapists have helped me cope. However, I have had to adapt in every aspect of my life.

Soon after my diagnosis, I took up walking as way to keep fit and active and try to do as many miles as I can. I have decided to do a sponsored walk, joining the Parkinsons UK - Walk for Parkinson’s 100 mile challenge. I will start recording my miles walked on 1 May and aim to get over 100 miles in the month. I will be joined by family and friends on my walks.

I am fundraising towards ‘Music for Parkinsons York’. I have been joining in with this singing group for over a year now. It has been fantastic for me, helping with the symptoms of difficulty breathing and quiet voice and providing a support group.
